Cutting hair in Nacogdoches since 1973
Johnny Crochet earned his barber license in 1959 and spent his early years behind a chair in Houston. In 1971 he moved his family to Nacogdoches, and two years later he bought the little shop on North Street that still carries his name.
Johnny was a barber by trade and a musician at heart — a steel guitar player who was inducted into the Cajun Music Hall of Fame in 2005. He ran the shop the way he played: no frills, no fuss, and always a good story going.
Johnny passed in 2013, but the shop never missed a beat. His granddaughter Liz took it over and has been behind the front chair ever since.
Keeping it Johnny’s way was a deliberate choice. Same low prices, same walk-in list, same unfussy barbering — no booking app, no membership, nobody upselling you something you didn’t come in for.
Six barbers and stylists keep the chairs turning the way they always have: walk in, put your name on the list, and leave looking sharp. That’s how her grandfather ran it, and that’s the point.
